Ratings of live shows have been falling for a few years now. Many folks use Tivo or DVR type devices to record shows, skip commercials and watch their favorite programs when they want to. However ratings skyrocket when there is a big event like the Super Bowl or Academy Awards: folks gather around the TV set and communicate with friends online about the show. For example, while I was watching the Oscars earlier this year, I was also sending tweets and updating my Facebook status with what was happening live. It's called social TV and there may be devices (perhaps remote controls) in the near future that will allow us to connect with friends while watching TV. I think that's a neat idea.
Google just launched Goggles which allows you to search the web by taking pictures. To find out more, just Google it! And that's not all. Google is getting ready to launch Google Editions - a web-based ebook store/utility, part of the cloud and not dependent on a device.
